EDIT: There are some videos for this now. YAY!!! Part 1: [link] Part 2: [link]
For foop's sake people, please comment. The best time to wear a striped sweater... is all the time~ (especially on the back of a Dragonite) I LOVE THIS DRAWING Yes I DOOOOO
I tried to go for a storybook look, I would love to illustrate children's books. >.> <.< ...that rhymes.
Copic Marker, Copic Multiliner SPs, Ivory Cardstock, 3 hours total
Traded with for some pokemon cards as prizes for my art contest (which ended October the 31st, 2012 at midnight.) TRADES ARE CLOSED.
So. I love coloring night scenes, because lighting is one of my favorite things to play with when it comes to my Copic markers.
I'm proud of how the lighting from the moon and the golden glow from the umbreon play off the surroundings. I tried to stylize the moon a little bit, and it's probably one of my favorite parts about the picture, but I'm absolutely pleased with the soft glows from umbreon's rings. I haven't done something like this in a while so I feel like I've improved a lot since the last time. The beautiful model is the sister of the person I am trading with. Her hair is so thick and long, like a princess' hair (that prolly sounds weird XD). So I feel like that turned out pretty nicely as well in terms of communicating that in the illustration.
I am happy with the composition and the flow of the drawing as well, although it does feel a little bit divided in half. Your opinion?
Things I should improve on include posing humans. I sketched this according to proper proportions but somehow I feel like her torso and legs are a tad too short when compared to her arms and head.
The neck/head may or may not be impossibly positioned, I am not sure. Thoughts would be appreciated on this either way.
I used a photo of my sister riding her horse in that position but in hindsight, the photo may have been angled toward the viewer while this is viewed mainly from the side....
I also feel like the shading is missing something... OH GLOB... the shadow from the Dragonite! Where is it? I went to add that in but the conflicting lightsources made it seem like there wouldn't be one, so I set it aside. What do you think?

Hey Karen this is really random, but do you do critique type things? you've probably already answered this //slapped This picture looks really good!! That lighting is GORGEOUS. Thanks for being awesome!
I wish I had time to do them like I used to, but doing commissions full time and getting ready for the baby has left not much time for them. I will every once in a while offer a critique if I have the spare time.
Soo cote! I love your art so much! Ah, and got the lighting totally amazing in it! Doing night scenes is definitely the ultimate challene when coloring with copics and you pulled it off great! I love the yellow light reflecting off the grass too, so pretty! ^v^
LALALALALALALALALALALALALALAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! This is most favorite. GRAH! I just. This blows my brains ALL across the universe. I really like the lighting. And the Pokemon because Dragonite and Umbreon are both in the top 5 faves. The girl is also super cute and the colors on EVERY SINGLE PART look so amazing and just...perfect. The curving motion that the Pokemon have is so perfectly suited to the curly moon and the slope of the hills in the background. You really hit the mark with this one, Karen. I'm SUPER impressed.
